The “Goddess” Experience with Jivamukti Yoga

From the moment I walked into Yoga Room 5 for Heeki Park’s Jivamukti Yoga class, I immediately felt her warm and loving welcome. Before the start of class, she took the time to greet each student with a special essential oil and prayer to help us find the goddess and feminine power we all have within us. Her assistant followed with applying Jivamukti Yoga China Gel to allow our muscles to relax for the Goddess Flow class she had prepared to share with us.

Attending Heeki’s class it was apparent how grateful she is to her teacher’s, co-creators of Jivamukti Yoga Sharon Gannon and David Life, as she shared their teachings and impactful messages throughout the class. Through her loving and enthusiastic energy, we were guided in an asana practice that focused on reconnecting with what is most important in our lives, creating space to let go of what is no longer serving us, and opening our hearts to share the love and compassion we all carry within ourselves for the happiness and freedom for all beings.

I loved how Heeki reminded us to smile– where she stated,

“That’s real yoga, don’t you think? You don’t have to be too serious to reach enlightenment, right?”

The most memorable part of class for me was when we chanted the holy mantra, one that was given to Sharon Gannon and David Life from their teacher- Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu. The interpretation of this verse, Heeki shared with us is, “May all beings be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life contribute in some way to the happiness and to that freedom for all.” Chanting the verse at the beginning of class was a beautiful way to set our intention for our presence in the room, which brought a sense of peace and openness for what was to be experienced.

Heeki will be offering one more Jivamukti Yoga class during the Barcelona Yoga Conference. It will be held on Sunday, July 23rd at 17:00 pm.
